   Almond blossom Festival - Tafraout (second week February)

The Tafraout Valley, where almond-trees reign supremely, is enchanting to the eye at blossom time. Ranging from immaculate to blushing pink, the blooms do not last for a very long time. This brief existence makes them even more attractive, drawing more and more visitors to watch this spectacle.

   Wax lantern Festival - Sale

The white town of Sale, twin sister of Rabat on the Bouregreg estuary, has preserved one of Morocco's most picturesque traditions; the wax lantern procession or 'Mawkib Esh Shomouaa'. The procession is said to date back to the Barbary period in Sale, when the Corsairs carried wax lanterns in procession to the sanctuary of Sidi Abdallah Ben Hassoun, the town's patron to implore his protection before a long voyage. This tradition has become a beautiful and entertaining event.

  Honey Festival - Imouzer of Ida Ou Tanane (Agadir) (beginning of May)

Argana is said to be the largest collective beehive in the world and also one of the most curious because of its construction, history and the way it is run. Most of the hives are made of split reed cylinders covered with clay. With the aid of a smoking brazier made out of baked earth, the bees and their queen are made to crawl out of the hive into a basket so that the honey can be classified as a historic monument.

  The roses Festival - Kelaa M’Gouna (Ourzazate) (second weekend in May)

In this grandiose setting, the day is marked by numerous events like folk-dancing and singing, handicrafts exhibitions, 'Diffa' - banquets in tents, flower-decked floats, the election of Miss Rose, camel-rides and a splendid excursion by bus from Ourzazate down the Valley of the Roses. It is traditionally held on the second weekend of May. Men and women dress in their best attire and join in celebration and dance. The inhabitants of the Kelaa M'Gouna spray visitors with rosewater and toss rose petals at them that drop on their clothes. The evenings take place in the numerous rose gardens where everyone joins to dance and elect Miss Roses. A young single woman will be queen for a day. She parades on a decorated and perfumed chariot, the eager spectators cheer her and rose petals cover the ground where she passes. The folkloric dances such as the Ahidous, the sabre dance and the bee dance liven up the nights during these celebrations.

   Traditional handicrafts Festival - Zagora (24th-27th May)

Zagora is the first main city on the way to the Sahara Desert. Artisans from all over Morocco will be traveling to Zambia to show their products - ranging from wood carvings, traditional silver jewelry, moroccan silk handwoven hammocks, embroidery, to pottery decorated with henna. There are many beautiful hotels nestled in the palmary where one can relax by the pool between outings.

  Festival of World Sacred Music - Fès (May/June)

Fez, Spiritual Capital of the country, gathers each year a convergence of world cultures that are in close contact without knowing it. Born to foster globalization, this event, started in 1994, has already gained international fame.

  Festival of popular arts - Marrakech (June)

This agricultural Moussem is organized to promote the rural and agricultural world, highlighting the development projects of almond trees, olive trees and fig trees and forest essences in the region as well as the almond tree species grown in the Aknoul region. The event is followed by the parade of Miss Almonds, an endless procession of flowered floats, a multitude of folk troupes, a parade of horsemen with harnessed horses. The event is often marked, aside from the artistic performances, by seminary debates on the cultural techniques of the almond tree.

  Gnawa Music Festival of Essaouira - Essaouira (June)

This event gathers the best Gnawa music groups, as well as several American and European Jazz bands. This show, which started in 1960, was such a revelation that it immediately became one of the world's first rate shows. This annual festival in Essaouira Morocco is a 4 day celebration of the music of the descendants of African slaves of the country. The town itself, on the Atlantic Coast, should be visited regardless because of its relaxed atmosphere, wonderful instruments, herb/spice souks, and other local products like the Argan Nut Oil, as well as its ramparts, and lovely beach with countless fresh fish stalls. The festival itself is quite lively and popular with the youth of the country and the music is very unique. Chiming cymbals, twangy string instruments complement trancelike vocals. There are numerous stages throughout the town with different acts.

   Cherry Festival - Sefrou (June)

A three day festival of entertainment with a variety of sports competitions, a fantasia, a torch-light procession, fairground and at the end, the election of Miss Cherry with a parade by her cortege.

  Camel Festival - Tan Tan Road, Goulimine

The people of Goulimine hold the Camel Festival once a year as a special edition of their weekly Camel Fair that takes place every Saturday. The festival also offers the opportunity to witness the ritual dance of Guedra music.

   Engagement and wedding Festival - Imilchil (August-September)

One of the most famous festivals in Morocco is this festival of engagement and weddings especialy in the village of Ait Amer about 20 km from Imilchil. Now it's combined with the second festival in Imilchil called Festival of mountain top music in Imilchil: "Festival de musique des cimes ". They are usualy held in the last week of August In Imilchil or in September, not very far from the lakes.

  Festival of Fantasia - Meknes (beginning of September)

This event offers thousands of horsemen and their mounts a chance to meet and display their skills. This festival has become a huge success.

   International Film Festival (Marrakech - September)

This solemn event allows, aside from the substantial economic and touristic impact, to create a platform of meetings, exchanges and dialogue, as well as to foster cooperation among the developers and lovers of the 7th art. The festival is organized by the International Film Festival Foundation of Marrakech and chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid.

  Porcelain Festival (end of September)

There will be shows dedicated to Porcelain dolls, jewelry, and other porcelain iteams. There will be demonstations on how to make, paint, and engrave porcelain items.

  Date Festival - Erfoud (beginning of October)

This magnificent festival is held annually in the Erfoud area where nearly a million date-palms grow. There is grown a wide range of types of dates. Take for instance the majestic palm-tree, waving lazily in the warm breeze providing shade and a livelihood. The peasants who cultivate them rely on them for almost everything.

  Horse Festival - Tissa (October)

The picturesque center of Tissa, located a few miles off the main road in the Fez province, is the site of a gigantic competition between the various horse breeds. Every year in October, hundreds of riders assemble wearing their finery to present their mounts. Prize-giving and festivities create a very animated scene.

  Olive Festival - Rafai (mid December)

A very pretty festival where one can see the traditional olive-picking ceremony, numerous 'Diffa' feasts and folklore events in a surprisingly vast area of olive groves.
